Motor-Cycles In Hagley Park
Sir, —On several occasions recently I have been passed by motor-cycles in North Hagley Park. It is against the law to traverse Hagley Park in any s'ort of motor vehicle. Therefore, let all who would contemplate so doing be warned that I will report all offenders to the authorities immediately. My reason for sb doing is not spite, but the fact that the centre of the park is one of the few spots in the city free from the sound of traffic. It is also one of the few rights left to a non-motoring public.— Yours, etc., “JOHN ROBERT GODLEY (Jn.)”
April 22, 1965. [The Town Clerk (Mr C. S. Bowie) says: “It is an offence to ride motor-cycles, including power cycles, in Hagley Park and notices to this effect are erected at each entrance. The traffic department will conduct a further check on the position. The co-operation of the correspondent is appreciated and the reporting of any offender will be given the appropriate attention.”]
