Blenheim Entrants Running Freely

"The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. S. A. Brown has bypassed his home meeting at Awapuni this week-end and he will take a team to Blenheim for the Marlborough Racing Club’s meeting. Two of his contenders, Nasa Fair and Gayemana, were in top form yesterday morning, running freely over six furlongs in their semi-final trial.

Both horses have improved steadily since they resumed racing and either could have a winning chance on Saturday. On today’s work Gayemana looks . an outstanding prospect for the Stayers’ Stakes.

Galloping on the No. 1 grass, Gayemana shaded Nasa Fair at the end of six furlongs in 1:22 2-ssec, the final three in 41 2-ssec. As Gayemana has already been placed over ground in strong hack company, he should have little difficulty at a mile and a quarter next week. Another stylish trial over six furlongs was that of Sherlocks, which proved too speedy for Coalseam in 1:19 2-ssec. A last start winner at Feilding, Sherlocks looked improved as he covered his final three in 39 2-ssec. He is in splendid order for the Woodville meeting.

Sail Away, showing still the superficial effects of his unfortunate trip to Riccarton, hit out splendidly in a run over about a mile with Iranui. They sped up passing the seven to come home in 1:34 sec, the final six in 1:20 3-5 sec and the final three in 41Jsec. It is still on the cards that Sail Away may travel to Queensland for the Brisbane Cup and other races, but the trip could depend on his

form at Te Rapa where he will have his next start. Fleeting Moment, down to contest the President’s Handicap at Awapuni on Saturday, strode over six furlongs in l:22sec, the final three in 39sec. He was accompanied by Magog. Both worked well.

Answer to correspondent.— Dalray was four years old when he won the Melbourne Cup. He was beaten a head in the Sydney Cup by Opulent.
