Kandy Being Spelled
"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. Kandy and Dark Intrigue, after being highly successful during the autumn, have been let up for winter spells. Both have a dislike of soft tracks and they were unsuited by the going at Ellerslie last Saturday. As a winner in the Auckland Racing Club Handicap, a mile and a half, and the A.R.C. President's Handicap, a mile and a quarter, Kandy took high ranking among the three-year-olds. His return to racing next spring will be awaited with interest. A four-year-old gelding, which had looked distinctly moderate, Dark Intrigue came with a remarkable run of form in the autumn. All in the space of two calendar months, from February 17 to April 17, he had seven starts for four firsts,’ a second and a third, worth £2235 in stakes. His 15 previous starts this season brought in two seconds, a third, and a fourth.
