DISPERSAL SALE
7647gns For Stud Cattle (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, April 26. The top prices of 530gns and 420gns were paid by the Hautotara Trust (Martinborough) at the dispersal sale of Mr Leo Baigent’s (Ben Nevis) Aberdeen Angus stud at Wakefield. Nelson, today. Both were for cows. Lupin 2nd of Ben Nevis and Eubelypta 3rd of Ben Nevis. Mr Baigent’s sire, Peron 15th of Waiwhero, was sold privately to Brewer Brothers, of Hawera, for an undisclosed figure. The 60 beasts auctioned realised a total of 7647gn5, an average of 127gns. Buyers were present from Hawke’s Bay to Southland. A. C. Burke, of Eketahuna, bought five cows at a total of 715gns, and G. Hobson and Son, of Riwaka, bought three cows and four calves for 470gns. Five beasts went to Canterbury and Southland breeders and one to Hawke’s Bay. The remainder were acquired by Nelson and Marlborough farms and studs.
Canterbury buyers were Albert Bell, of Christchurch, who paid 140gns for Ease 16th of Ben Nevis and lOOgns for Brook 19th of Ben Nevis, both cows.
M. V. Poff, of Canterbury, bought a cow and her bull calf for llOgns and 105gns. The cow is Pride Bth of Ben Nevis.
