Senior Grade Rugby Causes Confusion

An application by Air Force to be considered for entry into the senior grade in accordance with the promotion-relegation rules caused some confusion at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening.

The meeting, after some discussion, was not prepared to indicate the standard required for senior reserve teams to enter senior Rugby but decided to appoint a subcommittee which would advise the management committee on the suitability of the applicants. Mr J. Storey said the rules provided for senior reserve •earns to be admitted to the senior grade if the team showed itself to be up to senior standard “However, we have not been given any indication exactly what the standard is Would we promote a team which finishes fourth or fifth in the senior reserve grade?” Mr J O.
