W.I. Umpire Resigns
'! <N.Z,P.A.-Reuter—Copyright’ GEORGETOWN. April 23. Mr Cecil Kippins, the. British Guiana umpire who declined to stand in the third! ‘ test with Australia, has re-! ; signed from the local umpires’! ] association. ' The association directed ' Mr Kippins to miss the test ! because its request that both 1 umpires should be Guianese was not met. Mr Kippins honoured the i association’s directive but in his letter of resignation said: “There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the ; association acted wrongly, and that it put itself above ; the interests of West Indies! ■ cricket, and cricket as a] whole.”
