£50,000 Damage

MASTERTON, April 13
Damage to the factory of General Plastics (N.Z.), Ltd., at Masterton is estimated at £50,000.
In a statement tonight after a meeting of the firm’s executive in Masterton, Mr P. E. Mandel, a director of General Plastics (N.Z.), Ltd., said:—
“We express our sincerest sympathies to the next-of-kin and relatives of those who died in today’s explosion.
“Thanks go to the Fire Brigade, police, ambulance and all those who offered assistance.
“We expect to be back in production in about four months. An estimate of the damage is £50,000, representing the loss of plant arid stock.
“We expect to make a statement to the staff within 48 hours.”
