AUCKLAND. Leawayne, a local gelding, scored an end to end win in the £l7OO Bollard Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at Avondale yesterday. He was in the lead from the start and beat Tasman Lad by three parts of a length. Hi-Minx was third half a length back. The Takanini filly, Amura, completed the £75 18s 6d double when she won the Stewards’ Handicap also from end to end. The Te Awamutu gelding, Lu Filou, won the feature event of the day, the Avondale Challenge, Stakes, narrowly from Aro. Red Count was a good third after being at the rear early. The weather was fine and the track good. Amura broke the track record for six furlongs and Mansize equalled the seven furlongs record.
