Channel Swim
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, April 13.
Keith Hancox, who swam Cook Strait last year in the record time of 9hr 43min, is planning to swim the English Channel in July. He will probably be accompanied in the attempt by the American swimmer. Mary Margaret Revell. Hancox hoped to attempt the English Channel last year, but the promised sponsorship was not forthcoming. He assisted Miss Revell in her attempt on Cook Strait a month ago. Since then he and Miss Revell have been training together.
It would not be surprising if Hancox, who is an insurance salesman, decided to turn professional swimmer in order to further his ambition to be the first New Zealander to conquer the English Channel.
