‘No Dramatic Discovery’

Dr. Jonas Salk, who developed the vaccine credited with halting poliomyelitis epidemics, said here today there would be no similar dramatic discovery for effective control of cancer.
Speaking to the National Press Club, he said problems involved in combating heart disease, cancer, and old age were different from those in poliomyelitis, where a vaccine against a virus could be introduced from outside.
