YORK MINSTER RESTORATION.—A stoneyard craftsman at work on a gargoyle. York Minster has an infinite variety of statues, gargoyles, pinnacles, crockets, and finials, but time has taken its toll and the fabric is in such a state that massive restoration is being carried out. There are 32 gargoyles in need of restoration or replacement. Press, Volume CIV, Issue 30725, 14 April 1965, Page 16
