Parliamentary Inquiry
A Parliamentary subcommittee investigating public expenditure on teachers’ colleges and special schools, met members of the Canterbury: Education Board last evening. The sub-committee consists of Messrs W. W. Freer (chairman), J. B. Gordon and D. Maclntyre. The sub-committee this morning will inspect the Christchurch Teachers’ College, and later will inspect several special schools under the board’s control. Later the committee will
again meet the board. Mr Freer said that though the sub-committee’s original intention had been to dis-j cuss the economics and, administration of the I teachers’ college with the I board chairman and boardj officers. 11 members of the' board had attended the meeting. “This is a very healthy sign ' f and demonstrates in no un- i certain manner the great in- ' terest of board members in 1 education in general and in 1 the teachers’ college in particular,” said Mr Freer. i.
