SPARK PLUG FACTORY
Establishment Near Auckland
A factory to be established near Auckland this year will manufacture a complete line of automotive and marine spark plugs. The Champion Spark Plug Company of the United States, and Fisher and Paykel, Ltd., will /be associated in the new factory to produce Champion spark plugs, which have been sold in New Zealand since 1921.
The president of the Aineri can company. Mr R. A. Stranahan. said yesterday that the decision to begin manufacture in New Zealand had ' been prompted by the long association with the Dominion, the prosperous state of the New Zealand economy and a significant increase in vehicle registration. The new plant would use’, specially-designed American machinery used at all Champion plants. Sir Woolf Fisher said the plant would be staffed by New Zealanders. Those who would fill supervisory positions would be trained at the Champion headquarters at Toledo, Ohio
