WOOLMARK BRAND
Use In Ten Countries
More than 1000 highquality textile manufacturers in 10 countries are now licensed to produce Woolmark products. There is a waiting list of applicants anxious to be allowed to use the mark, and inquiries are reaching the International Wool Secretariat’s headquarters in London from such places as South America, Eastern Europe, and Greece, where the secretariat is not represented. The Woolmark—a worldwide quality symbol to distinguish goods made of pure new wool—is still in its infancy. The project has been launched only in the United Kingdom, United States, Japan, Belgium, Holland, Germany (all last September), and in France (last month). Later this year it will be extended to 14 more countries.
The textile industry, particularly in Europe, is fast aligning itself with the scheme. Many manufacturers are already revising their fabric designs to produce cloths that meet Woolmark requirements.
