MISSING RING
Search By Detectives
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 12. Auckland detectives boarded the liner Monterey this morning to try to trace a missing 10,000 dollar diamond ring. The ring had not been found when the ship sailed for Sydney at 7 p.m. Mrs Beth Christiansen, a passenger, of Salt Lake City, Utah, missed the ring when the ship left Tahiti on April 6. She was swimming at a beach in Tahiti and gave her three rings to a travelling companion, Mrs Verana Scott, to mind. The diamond ring, a single, three-carat stone, was later missed from the women’s cabin. Mrs Christiansen and Mrs Scott are making the round trip in the Monterey.
