FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone centred near Tasmania extends over the Tasman Sea. A southerly airstream flows over most of the country. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light variable winds: cloudy and cool; some areas of light rain at first this morning. Nelson and Marlborough.—Moderate variable winds: fresh southerlies about the northern Sounds and the Kaikoura Coast: showers on the Kaikoura Coast, elsewhere mainly fine, apart from a few isolated showers.
