Earthquake In Chile

The World Council of Churches is making a fund of 10,000 dollars available to assist victims of the earthquake in Chile this week. The National Council of Churches has made an immediate grant of £lOOO, and is awaiting further details of the project. This was announced by the council’s assistant secretary (the Rev. R. M. O’Grady) in Christchurch. An appeal has been sent through the headquarters of the World Council of Churches in Geneva to branches all over the world. In an emergency it is possible to raise funds within 48 hours. The fund will be administered by the Pentecostal Churches of South America, which serve the disaster area. They joined the World Council of Churches two years ago, and were the first of their denomination to do sb.
