R. Higgins To Ride Ripa
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE
Victoria’s leading jockey, R. Higgins, has accepted the ride on Australia’s top mare, the New Zealand-bred Ripa, in the £15,000 A.J.C. Doncaster Handicap at Randwick on April 17.
Higgins was to have riden Ripa in a barrier trial at Flemington yesterday, and if the mare pleased her trainer, B. Conaghan, she will be flown to Sydney to run at Rosehill next Saturday.
Ripa is very attractively weighted in the seven-furlong Railway Quality on 9-0.
