‘FIREWORKS THIS YEAR’
Conductor’s
Prediction
Last year had been one of consolidation, and this year would probably be one of fireworks, said Professor J. A. Ritchie in his conductor’s report at the annual meeting of the Christchurch Civic Orchestra Foundation.
Sir James Hay, patron of the organisation, said the meeting should not be closed without some reference to the magnificent job done by the president (Mr G. A. G. Connal). Without his leadership and the co-operation of the committee the foundation Could not have become a permanent institution. Mr Connal congratulated Mrs A. Harris on her success as business manager of the foundation. Officers elected were:— Patron, Sir James Hay; president, Mr G. A. G. Connal; vice-president, Dr. V. Griffiths; secretary, Mr A. W. Mann; treasurer, Mr W. D. Goode; committee, Mr A. Harris, Messrs J. F. Collins, J. B. Dodds, T. G. N. Rogers, C. Foster-Browne.
