NO DIFFERENCE OF OPINION
R.S.A. Clubroom Plans
There had been no difference of opinion between the executive committee of the Returned Services Association and the South Christchurch suburban committee, regard ing either the proposal to build clubrooms or to purchase clubrooms, said the president of the Christchurch R.S.A. (Mr D. Barrett). He was commenting on statements by the secretary of the suburban committee (Mr F. W. K. Humphries) A report in “The Press’’ on Friday said the Christchurch sub-branch of the R.S.A. had bought a property in Wai tham road on which It planned to build clubrooms, but there had been a disagreement with the executive of the Christchurch R.S.A. on financing The sub-branch has now purchased the Albion Rugby Football Club's rooms in Tennyson street to proride a branch headquarters and social hall.
Mr Humphries was quoted as saying he was happy that all differences had been re solved.
Mr Barrett said: “The executive committee and the suburban clubroom trustees were merely abiding by the rules laid down in the trust deed, which was drawn up at the instigation of all suburban committees, and therefore cannot understand the statement made by the secretary of the South Christchurch Suburban Committee, in view of a letter of thanks to the executive committee and trustees for the expeditious manner in which they dealt with the matter.”
