Eights Rowing
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, March 18. Auckland retained the interprovincial eights championship with strong rowing at Clive on Saturday. In spite of the estimated 10knot current in the Ngaruroro river Auckland maintained a steady stroking rate for the one mile and a half event, defeating Wellington by two lengths. East Coast was third, about six lengths further back.
Inquest Opened.— An inquest into the death of Albert Edward Watson, aged 62, of Christchurch, was opened in Rangiora before Mr J. A. Ivory, J.P. Mr Watson was staying with friends at Horrelville and was travelling to Rangiora yesterday morning with his son-in-law when he collapsed and died. The inquest was adjourned sine die after evidence of identification.
