Sumner Scores 406 For Six In Suburban Cricket

Sumner, after losing three wickets cheaply, amassed the large total of 406 for six wickets. B. Watt, in scoring 155, really produced the form that has been expected of him. With T. Smitheram the fourth wicket partnership was worth 207. O. Nuttridge, playing his first senior game, appreciated the position and scored 89 in under the hour. His innings included five sixes and 11 fours. Waltham was dismissed cheaply by Papanui, D. Gordon and R. Sercombe sharing the wickets. At close of play Papanui had 85 for five and the game is now in an interesting position. Beckenham has a strong grip of its game with Matchless and an outright win could make the final game with Waltham very interesting. E. Jackson was in good form for Beckenham and really held the batting together.
