PACING LAWN'S SPRIGHTLY DASH
(From Our Own Reporter) DUNEDIN. Pacing Lawn showed that he could be one of the best prospects among the Australian pacers in the final set of heats at Forbury Park tonight when he dashed over one mile yesterday morning.
Driven by P. Coulson he recorded 2:5 2-ssec, the last halfmile in 1:2 2-ssec, and the final quarter in 31sec. He looked to have something in reserve. Pacing Lawn has done well in the last few days and it will be surprising if he fails to make a bold showing for a time in the Eighth Pacers’ Heat. Guiness was going better than Blazing Globe at the end of a solid two miles in 4:24 3-5 sec. The last half-mile took 60sec and the final quarter 30 2-ssec. Palpitate went easily in the early stages of two miles in 4:37 3-ssec, the last mile in 2:9 2-ssec and the final half in 60 2-ssec. He looks to be improving. Johnny Gold made the pace and was shading Khraizon and Ulove at the end of two miles in 4:37 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 1:4 3-ssec, and the final quarter in 31 2-ssec. If Johnny Gold reproduces his track trials in his next few races he should be an early winner. Our Eileen was going better than Whaka at the end of two miles. They sprinted their final four furlongs in l:3sec and the final quarter in 31 sec. Our Eileen continues to please. Smart Run Junior Royal and Doctor Barry finished together at the end of 12 furlongs in 3:22sec, the last half-mile in 1:3 2-ssec and the final quarter in 30 1-5 sec. Both horses look in great heart. Monaco Lady had Dandy Briar as a galloping pacemaker in an easy run over 12 furlongs in 3:36sec, the last half-mile in 1:3 2-ssec and the final quarter in 29 4-ssec. Corop McElwin, which has showed marked improvement afer each race, completed strong work with a sprint over half a mile in 1:1 2-ssec, the last quarter in 31 l-ssec. He should be placed again on
the last two nights of the meeting. Gramel went over two miles without being pushed. She trotted a middle mile in 2:llsec and then sprinted from the half-mile in l:ssec, the last quarter in 31 l-ssec. She revelled in the task and looks a picture. Anak, another to look imuroved, sprinted the last halfmile of his work in 1:2 2-5 sec, the final quarter in 30sec. He could upset calculations in his next start or two.
