GRAMEL, LORDSHIP TOP PROSPECTS

Final Series Of Heats At Forbury Tonight

(From Our Own Reporter)

DUNEDIN.

Gramel and Lordship, the glamour horses so far at the meeting, look to be gilt-edged proposition in their respective heats when the Inter Dominion Championship series continues at Forbury Park tonight.

The daughter and son of Johnny Globe have captured the imagination of the crowds at Forbury Park and whenever they are exercised they attract great interest. Gramel, with her wispy tail, which she flicks throughout her races, appears to dominate the trotters’ section and she should be untroubled to win her third race at the meeting in the Final Trotters’ Heat.

“Her win on Wednesday was, I think, her best effort ever,” said Mr A. F. Jones, of Adelaide, whose wife races the mare. “I think she is even better after that run and doubt if she has been fitter at any stage of the last 10 months.”

Gramel might find the earlier heat winners, Fourina and Uteena, hard to catch in her heat. However, she beat Fourina so convincingly last Saturday that she should not be troubled to beat the Tinwald mare once more.

Acquit, Tronso and Astralight are others capable of showing up. Lordship, which was driven almost with contempt for his , rivals by D. D. Nyhan when he won over two- miles on Wednesday, is considered by most as unbeatable in tonight’s sprint heat in spite of his handicap of 30 yards. However, the opposition is much stiffer than he has encountered in either of his two heats and there is little doubt that he will have to produce a world class effort to pass and beat 13 rivals, the majority of which have shown fine form so far at the meeting. The Southlanders, Tactile end Robin Dundee, might offer most opposition to Mrs D. G. Nyhan’s champion but the place chances of Adioway, Disband, Soanfra and Van Rebeck cannot be taken lightly. The TAB. double will be run on the Eighth Pacers* Heat and the Ninth Pacers’ Heat Gay Robin and Garcon d’Or form a likely combination. The track has dried out well and it is faster now than it has been for more than a week. Fine weather is forecast and with less shifty footing likely horses such as Cairnbrae, Jay Ar and Safe Return might go better tonight. There will be an on-course double on the Adelaide Handicap and the Fifth Trotters’ Heat. Fields, with drivers and form comments, are reviewed below. Unless otherwise stated the horses all raced on the second night of the meeting on Wednesday. FIRST LEG OF ON-COURSE DOUBLE •20 p.m.— ADELAIDE HANDICAP, £IOSO ; 2:14 class; 2m. 1 Rollo ViiA V Rai-
