Gnat Orders Worth £lm

The Christchurch firm which manufacturers the Gnat, J. Cameron Lewis and Co. Ltd., had received orders worth £500,000 from Malaysia and Queensland during the last few weeks, said the company’s general sales manager (Mr J. D. Stuart-Guilliland) yesterday. Since last December, when the Gnat sales campaign was launched, the company had received about £lm in orders, he said.

The latest orders represented about 1000 Gnats and trailers. “We were shaken by the response. I believe this figure is good compared with the annual export figures to the area,” he said.
