MALAYSIAN REFUSAL

Visas For Koreans (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 21. The Football Association of Malaysia has turned down a request from F.1.F.A., the world soccer controlling body, to stage the Asian zone matches of the World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, who is president of the Football Association, said the Government would not grant visas to footballers from North Korea. The Asian zone matches, which must be completed by December, were originally scheduled to be played at Tokyo, but the Japanese Government refused to grant visas to the North Koreans. Australia then offered to stage the matches, but North Korea rejected this, insisting that the matches be played on “neutral” ground. The winners of the Asian zone will qualify for the finals to be played in England in July, 1966.
