20 Injured In Road Accidents

Six persons were admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital after road accidents in and near Christchurch during the week-end, and 14 persons were treated and discharged.

Child Injured.—Serious head and internal injuries were suffered by David Bruce Sandford, aged six, of 4 Abbey place, when he was run over yesterday afternoon by a car at the Riccarton racecourse, where a picnic was being held. He was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Four Injured.— Four persons were injured when two cars collided at the corner of Salisbury and Madras streets about 8.40 p.m. on Saturday. The driver of one car, Joseph Anthony Dohmen. of 21 Damien street, and a passenger in his car, Brian Malcolm Vickery, of 163 Edgeware road, were admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Both suffered fairly seri-

ous head injuries, and Mr Dohmen also suffered lacerations. The driver of the other car, Ronald Leslie Clarke, of 25 Tavender street, and a passenger in his car, Graham Eric Dempsey, of 18 Glenroy street, suffered leg injuries. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Head Injuries.—After a car and a taxi collided at the corner of Bordesley and Harrow streets about 9.30 p.m. yesterday Geffrey Mark Taylor, of 40 Morris street, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital with fairly serious head injuries. Patricia Doyle and Carolie Doyle, of 40 Piko crescent, suffered leg injuries, and Noel Brownless, of 260 Lake Terrace road, chest injuries. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Cars Collide.—Arthur John Nolan, of 171 River road, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from fairly serious head injuries after two cars collided at the corner of Aorangi road and Brookside terrace about 11.40 p.m. yesterday. Bebe Jones,

of 87 Palmers road, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for leg injuries. Injured In Fall. —Head injuries were suffered by Richard Edkins, of 446 Greers road, when he fell from a power-cycle in Lake Terrace road about 5.30 p.m. on Saturday. He was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Car Hits Pole.—When a car struck a pole on the Main North road at Chaneys corner about 6 a.m. yesterday John Franklyn, of 30 Buffon street, and Dorothy Morgan, of 100 Worcester street, suffered head lacerations. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Van Rolls Over.— Arm injuries were suffered by Robert Haremate, of 3 Oakridge street, when a van rolled over in Brynley street about 6.30 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Haremate was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

Truck Hits Bullock.—A truck hit a bullock on the Main North road a little north of Chaneys corner about 12.30 a.m. yesterday. A passenger

in the truck, Nancy Crooks, of 39 Manurere street, suffered head lacerations, which were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Two Injured.—Lexia Beverley Cornish, of 35 Eureka street, suffered arm Injuries, and Graeme Cornish, of the same address, suffered leg injuries when two cars collided at the corner of Stanmore road and Avonside drive about 4 p.m. on Saturday. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

Car Rolls Over.—When a car rolled over at South Brighton last evening Ralph Edward Austin, of 39 Sedley street, Ashburton, suffered arm injuries. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

Hit Parked Car.— Mrs Louise Dean, of 127 Hawke street, New Brighton, suffered head and leg injuries, and Bart Huia Dean, of the same address, suffered lacerations to the head when a car hit a parked car at the corner of Tancred and Hereford streets about 5 p.m. yesterday. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital.
