AUCKLAND, Feb. 17. The Mayor of Takapuna (Mr W. H. BenderSon) said tonight he had read only one complete hook in his life. The title was “Heroes of the Goodwin Sands,” and it had been given to him for a Sunday school >rtae. *

“I would probably have been better off if I had read more books, but I don’t know that I am worse oft," Mr Henderson said.

He was speaking at the official opening of the North Shore Festival of Arts exhibition of children’s books at the Takapuna Municipal Library.
