Sunday: Teurnaments at Kalapel, Sheffield, Weolsten W.M.C. and Allenton. Menday: Electric light tournaments at Beckenham and Sydenham. Tuesday: Final of mid-week friendly matches; electric light tournaments at Cashmere

and Redcliffs. Wednesday: Electric light tournaments at Ranglera and Spreydon.

The wlnnen of the Cashmere club's championship rinks are H. Kent, J. Malloch, H. B. Kay and J. Mills (skip), who beat A. F. Roberts’ ♦cam In the semi-final 19-16, and went on to beat R. Wilkins' team in the final, 20-14. In the championship pairs, a A. Polson and Roberts (skip) beat A B. 800 l and A. Stott (skip), who went into the final as two-lifers in both games. In the final of the singles, a N. Archer plays N. G. Jones, who is still a two-lifer, while in the Colts final G. Voller meets a E. Taylor.

•. ♦ * The Papanul champion pairs were completed last Saturday on a heavy green and with a stiff southerly wind. In the morning C. Johnston and R. Powell (skip) beat P. Mather and S. Ives (skip). The final between Johnston and Powell and the father and son combination of W. and T. Boyd (skip) was played in the afternoon under slightly better conditions. This resulted In a win for Powell. Immediately after this final, T. Boyd played Johnston in the seventh round of the champion singles and had an easy win. The game did not run the full 21 ends. » * «

The final of the Opawa championship pairs resulted in a win for A Hewstone and B. Clarke (skip), who beat J. Stoddart and J. O’Halloran (skip) in a very close game, the winning shots coming from the last two heads. R. Jones defeated C. Rowe in the quarter-finals of the championship fours. The semi-finals will be between O’Halloran and K. Murray, and R. Jones and J. Erridge. In the championship singles, D. Burr is playing particularly good bowls and having beaten Rowe and O’Halloran, has a good chance of reaching the semi-finals. * » •

The Morrison Avenue dub’s pairs championship was recently won by the father and son combination of J. and W. Banks when they defeated A Fricker and R. Lawrie (skip) in the final. Banks won with both lives intact for the second year in succession. Last Saturday, in boisterous conditions, C. Adams won the rinks championship from B. Rhodes; the game was even to the sixteenth end when Adams drew away to win 24-17. The teams were J.

Gordon, J. Sheard, D. McCone and Adams (skip), and J. Rhodes, R. Marsh, A. Kilday and B. Rhodes (skip). The annual home and away fixture with Fendalton was concluded last Saturday and resulted in Morrison Avenue retaining the Fen-Morris Duster by a margin of 15 points in the aggregate.

Eight rinks travelled from St Albans on Saturday to Ashburton to meet the Allenton dub, the trophy at stake being a shield presented for annual competition, home and away, by J. Haines, of St. Albans. St Albans were the first winners of the shield but the dub’s president expressed a hope that the two dubs’ names appear alternately on the trophy. * * «

The winners of the Dallington dub’s pairs championship were M. Briggs and J. P. Griffin, who were undefeated. In one semi-final they beat N. Austin and L. McKendry, 18-14, and in the other heat L McAllister and V. Claridge, 20-12. In the colts singles championship, P. Egan is the only player with two lives. Formerly from the West Coast, he is a bowler of distinct promise.

A large crowd saw an exciting and enjoyable final to the New Brighton pairs competition when T. Moir and T. Bisman (skip) beat R. Pawsey and B. Bodger (skip), 17-15, after an extra end. The scoring was close throughout and the bowls of a very high standard, with the climax being reached on the extra end when Bisman took his opposite number’s bowl to win the match.

Results of the R.S.A. championships so far concluded are:—-fours: F. Hoy, C. Corley, J. O. McDonald and A B. Nottingham (skip) beat F. Mercer’s team; pairs: Hoy and Nottingham (skip) beat G. Honey and P. Hanrahan (skip). In the singles, Hoy beat Hanrahan in one semifinal while in the other, N. McNab will play M. Ellis. In the colts, G. Meurk (two lives), T. Stringer and N. Ogilvie still survive. Nottingham’s champion fours team also won a play-off in the Diggers’ elimination tournament recently and will represent the Christchurch District at the New Zealand finals to be played on March 6 and 7 at Greymouth. In their play-off, they beat a New Brighton team skipped by J. Davidson. Both teams had four wins during the day.

After an early lead of 10-4, H. Deavoll (skip) and C. Bateman were taken to an extra end in the final of the Sydenham pairs, against J. Duncan (skip) and M. Stills. The score on the fourteenth was 12-all but Deavoll drew away again to 18-14—only for Duncan to draw level again at 18-all on 21 ends. With the tension on in the extra end, both leads were wide and Duncan, in trying to draw with his last bowl, hit an opponent’s bowl in for shot

Only one competition has been concluded at Spreydon. It is the champion pairs, which was won by H. Berry and J. Howatson (skip), who beat J. McDonald and C. Bull (skip) by one point in a final which saw some good driving and accurate drawing by both skips. Berry is the only twolifer in the singles, although H. Moss had the misfortune to Injure his shoulder and was compelled to withdraw. The only two-lifer in the intermediate singles is D. Bell, while in the colts singles, the players remaining are J. Cullen, G. Anderson, A. Bringans and H. Cordingly.

R. Main (skip) and N. Poole are the Sumner club’s champion pairs combination, having beaten R. A Wilkinson (skip) and R. E. Huston, 20-14, in the final. However, Poole recently lost his second singles life to R. S. Rudd, 20-17, after being 5-18 down in the early stages. In a fours semi-final, Wilkinson beat S. La Roche’s team by a comfortable margin. Games for the E. A Barton Memorial Cup (singles, 16 ends) resulted in E. H. Merrells beating F. L. Alexander, the holder; G. F. Robinson beat C. P. Philpott; H. E. Robinson beat H. S. Williams; and C. B. Idle beat R. H. Lovatt.
