Protest At Clash Of Racing Dates
(New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON. A motion of no-confidence in the executive committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference was passed in Hamilton on Monday by a combined meeting of the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Owners’ and Trainers’ Associations.
This resolution referred to the recent allocations of extra race permits and the granting of permission to the Avondale and Auckland Racing Clubs to race on dates customarily held by the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua Racing Clubs on April 3 and May 29. The owners’ and trainers’ associations maintained the executive committee of the conference was ill-advised and gave no consideration to I the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua clubs. As a result, owners would suffer. The country clubs intended to reduce stakes by £lOOO to counter the expected drop in revenue through the clash' with the metropolitan dubs. I
At the meeting, the president of the Waikato association, Mr J. Fouhy, said his association would support any action which may be taken by the Waikato District Racing Committee in the interests of the two clubs vitally concerned.
