New Gear Fitted

The 150-ton, twin screw fishing vessel, Picton, formerly a wellknown cargo carrier between Lyttelton and Wellington, is briefly visiting Lyttelton. The Picton, commanded by Captain A. S. Aberdein, has a crew of nine and is owned by the Picton Fishing Company. She is being fitted with seven electric line haulers (she already has one) to facilitate line fishing. Last here in October for overhaul, the Picton has been fishing out of Wellington and has been in the Chathams this year. She will leave Lyttelton for the Chathams again this week. She will spend about two months there, mainly fishing for blue cod.
