Although New Zealand outbatted Australia by four hits to three Australia was superior In the field and won. 2-0, in their women’s international softball series today. New Zealand’s first batter in the second innings, J. Bowers, hit a two-bagger but was dismissed going to third. In the fifth innings New Zealand again looked dangerous after a two-bagger by C. Mullally but once again it failed to capitalise. Mullally and Bowers both hit safely twice. M. Scott opened Australia's account on a fielder's choice after hitting on, and from a hit by M. Swann, S. Sommerville scored in the sixth. Other results: Japan 12, New Guinea 0; U.S.A. 8, New Guinea 0; Australia 1, Japan 0.
