TOP-SECRET ISLAND
Survivors Arrive (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) HONOLULU. Feb. 15. Survivors of the burned-out Danish freighter, Margit, have arrived at top-secret Johnston Island, 700 miles southwest of Honolulu. The injured immediately received medical treatment. The 23 men and one woman became the first non-accredit-ed persons to set foot recently on the island, the scene of past American atmospheric nuclear testing and now of a United States anti-missile programme. The 24 survivors were plucked from lifeboats on Friday by the U.S. Navy cargo ship, Greenville Victory, 11 hours after an engineroom explosion killed three men and injured three others. The survivors will be flown to Hawaii.
