Negro Extremist’s Home Shattered By Bomb

NEW YORK, Feb. 15. A fire bomb was thrown yesterday into the home of tbe extremist Negro leader, Malcolm X.
His wife and four children were sleeping in the house, but no-one was hurt. The house was heavily damaged.
The person who threw the bomb escaped. Malcolm X was out of town at the time of the incident. He has been touring Britain, where he has aroused a storm of protest after a visit last week to the steelmaking centre of Smethwick.
Racial tensions have been rising in Smethwick because of a steady influx of coloured people from Commonwealth countries.
Malcolm X’s home has been a centre of controversy since March last year when he defected from the Chicagobased Black Muslim movement and set up a rival black nationalist organisation. The Black Muslims claimed ownership of the home and ordered him out. He refused.
A court, acting on a petition filed by the Muslims, ordered Malcolm X to get out by January 31, but he still refused to move.
