Contributions to the Winston Churchill Memorial Fund in Christchurch now total £7222 19s 7d. Cheques received in the mail by the City Council yesterday amounted to £457 9s and £73 19s was received at the counter.
Counting of money from more than 400 boxes placed with grocers through the city began yesterday. The first 128 boxes produced £l2B Os lOd. Proceeds from the box in Cathedral square were £55 17s Bd. So far the box has produced £798 15s 9d. Additional donations of £5O or more are:—Firestone Tire and Rubber Company of New Zealand, Ltd., £100; N. M. Peryer, Ltd., £52 10s: Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, £5O.
