AID FOR DRIVER

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—-Copyright)

LONDON, Feb. 4. The National Union of Railwaymen is to seek more compensation for Mr Jack Mills, driver of the train in Britain's £2,600,000 great train robbery—from the banks who lost money in the raid. Mr Mills, aged 58, is still on light railway duties because of the head injuries he received in the attack 18 months ago. A union official said: “The banks have made handsome payments to informers. We think they should recognise the fact that driver Mills put up a brave fight on the footplate in an effort to save their money.’’ Mr Mills has received £25 from British Railways and £250 from the Post Office.
