EMBASSY SHELLED
Thailand Refugees (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) BANGKOK, Feb. 4. Almost 10,000 refugees from Laos have sought refuge in Thailand after bitter fighting between rival army groups in Vientiane, say Thai officials. Among the refugees were dependents of Thai Embassy staff in Vientiane who were taken out after the shelling of the Embassy. The Embassy’s second secretary was killed when the building was hit yesterday. Vientiane, where street fighting has been taking place, was reported quiet this morning. Informants in Bangkok said General Kouprasith Abhay, the Vientiane governor and commander of the garrison forces, was in control of the capital.
