FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—An anti-cyclone over the northern Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastwards, while pressures remain low in the south of New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.—Winds mainly moderate, easterlies in coastal regions but north-westerlies and some cloudy areas at first this morning, otherwise fine, with temperatures warm inland and mild about the coast; mainly fine.

Nelson.—Moderate variable winds; fine and warm.

Marlborough, except the Kaikoura Coast.— North-westerlies prevailing during the day and freshening later; partly cloudy and warm. Buller and Westland.—Winds mainly moderate; westerlies; partly cloudy and mild, with scattered showers, especially about the hills; few showers.

Outlook Thursday.—All districts: a period of rain is possible on the West Coast and about the alps, otherwise partly cloudy weather. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
