G. F. Hughes Suspended
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 27. The Auckland jockey, G. F. Hughes, who was second in the jockey’s premiership before the Auckland meeting, was suspended at Ellerslie yesterday, up to and including January 9. He was found guilty of causing interference to Mac’s Pride and Travel Alone while riding Farmer’s Boy, in the Breeders’ Plate. P. K. Cathro was suspended up to and including January 9 following an inquiry into the Queen Elizabeth Handicap. He was found guilty of causing Golden Defoe to check Aro. Cathro rode Mantovani, which finished fifth.
