The Government had decided to introduce the limited scheme tor new importers in conjunction with the issue of the 1965-66 import licensing schedule, the Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) announced today. "In consultation with the Manufacturers’ Federation. Associated Chambers of Commerce, and the Bureau of Importers, it has been agreed this procedure will be fairer both to applicants for new importers licences and existing importers," he said. "Some administrative difficulties have arisen which make it undesirable to introduce the scheme at this late »taso of the import year. ' Detail* of information reunited to support application* will appear in the schedule to be issued in March-April next year.'* said Mr .Shelton.
