OYSTER BED EXPERIMENT

The Preu” Special Serrtce NELSON. Dec. 22. An experimental rock oyster bed may be established at Nelson. At a meeting of the Nelson Harbour Board an application to establish toe bed for granted, subject to the approval of toe Minister of Marine.
The application came from Mr R. L. Kennedy, of Nelson, an American who became a naturalised New Zealander last week. The bed will be established on a small area of the Wakapuaka mud flat in the northern area of Nelson haven. The board granted Mr Kennedy use of the area for five years at a peppercorn rental. The Initial step in the venture will be toe establishment of a marina laboratory for research Into rock oysters.
