Veitch Unable To Play

The former Otago batsman, J. R. Veitch (West Christ-church-University) has withdrawn from the Canterbury Plunket Shield team to play Otago at Dunedin on Friday. Veitch’s finger, which was dislocated last week, has not responded to treatment as quickly as was expected. However, Veitch will almost certainly be fit for the second shield match, against Wellington at Christchurch beginning on December 31. B. R. Taylor (South Canterbury) has been added to the team to travel to Dunedin. Taylor is a new player to Plunket Shield cricket. No twelfth man has been named for the Otago match.
