Wool Prices Ease

A further drift downward was apparent in the November wool sales, and by the end of the month prices were nearly 25 per cent lower than a year earlier and 20 per cent below the average for the whole of last season, says the Acting Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris). Price levels at the winter sales of the 1964-65 season were similar to those a year earlier, and slightly, better than at last season’s closing sales. In the first round of main sales through the eight centres prices were lower, fluctuating about 121 per cent below last season’s average, and up to 20 per cent below the buoyant prices at corresponding sales a year earlier.
