No-Overtaking Lines Yellow

fN.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. The colour of no-overtaking marking on roads will be changed. The National Roads Board today decided to change the present white continuous lines to a reflecting yellow.

A submission from the board’s signs committee said white markings were not as conspicuous as they should be in view of severe penalties imposed on drivers convicted of an offence against the no-overtaking regulation. “Yellow is being used by some municipalities for pavement marking of bus stops and taxi stands. It would be distinctly advantageous if yellow could be reserved for nothing other than regulatory markings,” the submission said.

This would ensure markings associated with an offence against the Traffic Regulations remained distinctive.
