RUSSLEY AREA

Trade-Wastes Problem

Only those industries with a limited discharge of trade wastes could be given service in the Russley area, the Christchurch Drainage Board decided to advise the Regional Planning Authority. The board was discussing a modification to the rural zone which is to provide additional urban land in Russley for future industrial development. This could cause problems to the board if factories were built which would discharge large quantities of trade wastes, the works committee said. The sewers in the area would not have the capacity for industries other than those with a small industrial flow.
