SMITHFIELD RECORD

IV.Z. Lamb At Peak Prices (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, December 14. Record prices are claimed to have been reached on Smithfield Market for new season’s New Zealand lamb —2s 9Jd per lb for 20-281 b, and 2 S 7jd per lb for 29-381 b lambs.

They were paid for some 20,000 lambs from the Gothic and New Zealand Star. Some Shortage The high prices were aided by a shortage of old season’s stock and the general state of the market. It is hoped that this level will be maintained after the Illyric arrives on Thursday with 150,000 more carcasses. These will be held in store until after Christmas.
