Early Power Plants

Sir,—l thank all those readers who gave information on early power plants. The James Stephen I referred to was store-keeper at Staveley in the early 1870 s and the father of the James Stephen at Lyndhurst, whom the Lyndhurst reader referred to. This old James Stephen had his own generating plant at the Staveley store in the very early days and I would like further information about him. Mr Stephen died some 53 years ago.—Yours, etc, INTERESTED RANGIORA. December 7, 1964.
