(NZ.PA.-Reuter —Copyright) FUKUOKA, Dec. 6. The New Zealand Olympic runner, J. L. Julian, finished thirteenth in the Asahi international marathon race at Fukuoka today. Julian last year won the race and was one of the favourites this year. Japanese runners scooped the pool, Torn Terasawa, who was fifteenth in the Olympic marathon in Tokyo, winning in a new Japanese record of 2hr 14min 48.2 sec. Terasawa held the previous record of 2hr 15min 15.8 sec, which he set in February last year.

Second in the field of 38 today was Takayuki Nakao in 2hr 15min 42sec and third was Hidekuni Hiroshima in 2hr 17min 18.6 sec. Julian’s time was 2hr 23min 6s ec.
