SUBURBAN GAMES Waltham Recovers After Losing Wickets Cheaply

On easy-paced wickets and slow outfields the third round games in the Suburban Association’s competition started on Saturday. Waltham, after losing half its wickets cheaply, made a good recovery to be all out for 197, Neville Clark being mainly responsible with a good innings of 52. W’. Rhind and N. Lloyd, the Sumner slow bowlers, each took four wickets. Matchless made a good start against Burnside but only to see the later batsmen fail. B. Malden did all the damage with nine wickets for 22 off 11 overs. Burnside also lost wickets cheaply but an unbroken partnership between R. Willoughby and D. King saved a complete rout.
