TUNNEL BY 1970
‘Economical’ At £l6om. (N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 29. A tunnel linking Britain and France would cost about £l6O million and could be opened by 1970, said the chairman of the Channel Tunnel Study Group (Mr L. F. d’Erlanger). He told the Association of British Travel Agents’ convention in Brighton that even at this price it would be an economical proposition. He said the opening date would depend on whether the Labour Government decided to demote the tunnel in its timetable.
